Design and Security Verification of One-time ID Key-Exchange Protocol by Modal Logic

In order to conceal user's identity from eavesdroppers and construct a system with high scalability, we propose a three-party Diffie-Hellman-based key exchange protocol using "One-time ID". In this paper, we analyze the proposed protocol by SVO Logic [1], [2], which is one of formal verification methods based on modal logic. Moreover, we consider some existing One-time ID generation methods.

Application of Object-Oriented techniques to system-level design of embedded systems

Object-Oriented (OO) techniques have been widely adopted in business application software developments for better readability and reusability. In this paper, we consider whether OO techniques are also applicable for system-level design of embedded systems which involves hardware design. And in conclusion, the concepts of OO analysis and OO design are available if functional structures are mapped into implementation structures by a well-suited rule for embedded systems design.

On the Performance Analysis of Adaptive IIR Notch Filters : PSD-Based Approach

This paper presents steady-state performance analysis of a gradient algorithm (GA) for second-order adaptive infinite-impulse response (IIR) notch filters. A method for deriving analytical estimation mean square error (MSE) expressions with accuracy independent of the structure of the adaptive IIR notch filter is presented. The method is based on the power spectral density (PSD) of the variable coefficient estimation error. Analytical expressions for the estimation bias are shown to be obtained from the derived estimation MSE expressions. Simulations are presented to validate the analytical results.

Trajectory Recognition using State Transition Model with Counters

In this report, we propose a method to recognize a trajectory generated by human motion as a realization of human activities. Although the advanced processing of obtained data is a future issue in earlier studies, we will discuss a trajectory recognition using model-based learning to utilize a knowledge acquisition or representation. In recognition based on learning, the performance differs in quality among models. For the 2-dimensional information included in trajectory data, there are several classes of trajectories where HMM(Hidden Markov Model) is not applied, although HMM is an excellent model. In this report, we focus on the recognition capability of model, and propose a model including a higher ability to recognize trajectories, which is called STMC(State Transition Model with Counters). We discuss the learning algorithm of STMC and several experimental results.

Character Recognition using Generalized Learning Vector Quantization

This paper reports handwritten digit recognition experiments using a new learning method called Generalized Learning Vector Quantization (GLVQ). GLVQ is a generalization of the conventional Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ), and a criterion for learning is formulated as the minimizing of a cost function that ensures convergence of reference vectors. Recognition experiments using 1-Nearest Neighbor (1-NN), Multi-Layered Perceptron (MLP) and LVQ algorithms (LVQ1, LVQ2.1, LVQ3) were carried out as well to compare with recognition results by using GLVQ. It was shown that GLVQ has almost the same recognition ability as 1-NN and MLP. GLVQ can be applicable to a large-scale recognition problem, so the improvement on Kanji character recognition would be expected.

Learning a Distance Metric for Object Identification without Human Supervision

A method is described for learning a distance metric for use in object identification that does not require human supervision. It is based on two assumptions. One is that pairs of different names refer to different objects. The other is that names are arbitrary. These two assumptions justify using pairs of data items for objects with different names as "cannot-be-linked" example pairs for learning a distance metric for use in clustering ambiguous names. The metric learning is formulated using only dissimilar example pairs as a convex quadratic programming problem that can be solved much faster than a semi-definite programming problem, which generally must be solved to learn a distance metric matrix. Experiments on author identification using a bibliographic database showed that the learned metric improves identification precision and recall.

An implementation of the control method for consumer electronics based on earthquake early warning

In Japan, earthquakes happen on a regular basis. There is an earthquake early warning system operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency. By sensing P-waves, it can notify people a few seconds before the earthquake reaches them. Since only few seconds are left, it is often difficult for people to act with consideration on who is where at the moment, what consumer electronics should be turned off, and how to ensure a family's safety in their house. We developed a system that supports people with control of network-connected home appliances when an earthquake occurs. The system utilizes three types of control rules: general, family-related, and personalized for each type of consumer electronics. As there can often be operational conflicts if applying the rules simultaneously, a conflict-resolving mechanism is implemented, based on an optimisation algorithm for weighted constraint satisfaction problems. An experiment of the system deployment is described, and its results are briefly discussed. Conclusions are drawn, and future plans are outlined.続き>>

Kaburobo Platform for Automated Stock Trading

This paper describes a "Kaburobo" that enables users to specifically and easily create an automated stock trading program, a Kaburobo development kit, a Kaburobo contest that combines high-grade Kaburobo creators and financiers, and a Kaburobo platform that can realize them.
More than 6000 people participated in the third Kaburobo contest in 2006 with a goal of real trading and some highly capable Kaburobos that have good track records of the contest and long term backsets.
This paper represents the structure of the Kaburobo platform, shows actual achievement of the Kaburobo contest, and demonstrates the effectiveness of the platform.

Stochastic State Selection in TSP : Simulated Annealing on many states

The simulated annealing is one of the methods for the optimization problem.
A probabilistic selection is done to one state in the simulated annealing.
We devise a stochastic state selection which treats many states in one time step.
We discuss features of the stochastic state selection by comparing experiments of usual simulated annealing and stochastic state selection on the traveling salesman problem.
